TEXTURE MAGAZINE

Since their widespread outbreak of the mid-1990s, gifs have evolved from “under construction” workers and Ally McBeal’s gyrating baby to the sophisticated silliness spread across message boards and comment sections like a case of the mumps. Of course there are people making batshit crazy shit with them as well, two of which we’re tickled pink to feature this week. On top of performing as Doom Tickler and as a member of Induced Labour, Toronto’s Leslie Predy is a leading light of the avant-gif movement. Together with kindred spirit Steph Davidson, Predy co-presented the gif exhibition Save For Web last year, earning them coverage in the good ol’ Globe and Mail of all places. We round out this issue with the online co-premier of Zebra Pulse and Krang member Parker Thiessen’s short film on the Edmonton Noise community, documenting another Weird Canadian subterranean sub-division.
